Course profile

In the modern economy, it is rare for governments to leave underlying economic mechanisms to their own devices. For a wide variety of reasons, governments worldwide intervene in their economies, affecting the operation of businesses both explicitly and implicitly. Faced with a multitude of policies, businesses themselves have to take the best decisions possible.

This degree will enable students to understand the reasons behind particular policies, to consider their impact on businesses and to understand the issues and ideas involved in decision making within the modern firm.

  Assessment

A wide variety of assessment methods are used, including examination papers, group work presentations, case studies, and coursework.

Assessment generally takes place at the end of each semester.

  Career prospects

In a modern economy, it is rare for governments to leave underlying economic mechanisms to their own devices. For a wide variety of reasons, governments intervene in economic activity in ways which affect business activities both explicitly and implicitly. Faced with changing economic policies, businesses must take decisions about what to do and how best to do it.

This degree enables students to understand the reasons behind particular economic policies, to consider their impact on business, and to understand the issues and ideas involved in decision-making within the modern firm.

They are therefore well-placed to contribute in a positive manner to the decision-making process in a local, national or international business.
